Aflac Programs - Briefly Explained!

ACCIDENT - Aflac's most popular policy

An accident is anything you can assign a time and date to, for example injuries sustained from: car accidents, falling, burns, cuts, scrapes, etc... are all considered to be an accident. Aflac's accident policy is rich with cash benefits. The minimum you will receive (Aflac Level 2 Policy) when you seek medical attention (Doctor's office, Urgent Care, Emergency Room) for any injury is $120.00. From there the cash benefits build depending on what happens to you while receiving treatment: X-rays ($25), CT scan ($200), Hospitalized ($1000 initial payout and then $250 per day), follow-up visits ($35 each up to 6 visits), Physical Therapy ($35 each for up t0 10 visits). The coverages go on and on.

SICKNESS - Everything that an accident isn't

As the accident policy covers injuries, on the other side of the coin, we have the sickness policy that covers illnesses. The sickness policy can cover $25 for doctor’s visits (up to 6 times a year for a family with the Level 3 policy) for illness related visits. But this is not the reason to purchase the sickness policy. The sickness policy is designed for those unexpected situations. For example, let’s say you went to the doctor because you had a terrible stomach ache. ($25 cash benefit) The doctor decides it could be your appendix so he sends you to get a CT scan ($150 cash benefit). The CT scan shows that you need to have your appendix removed. Before you know it you are in the hospital having surgery. This policy pays $250 for your initial hospitalization and $100 for every day you are in the hospital and up to $2000 for a surgical benefit.

Pregnancy, gall bladder surgery, pneumonia, infections, are examples of events that are not accidents or injuries, they are illnesses and then protected under this sickness policy.

SHORT TERM DISABILITY -Replaces your paycheck when you are unable to

Work due to illness or injury.

Short Term Disability is a program that is regulated by the federal government that allows people to receive a portion of their existing income (70% max) for illness or injury. It is a variable program so it is dependent on the amount you make and the amount of disability coverage you need. The waiting periods are also customizable from the brief (0 days for an accident and 7 days for an illness) to the longer term (30 days for both accident and illness)

CANCER PROTECTION – Financial protection when you need it the most

Aflac has created a policy that removes the financial burden a cancer diagnosis presents to individuals and families with their cancer insurance policy and this is how it works for our Maximum Difference Policy.

Upon initial diagnosis of an internal malignancy Aflac will send you a check for $5000. Upon your treatment plan being established and implemented Aflac will send you a check for $3000. Aflac pays $900 for every week you are receiving injected chemotherapy, $500 for radiation. Everyday you are in the hospital pays $300, and everyday past 30 days is $600 a day. The amount of coverage Aflac provides to cancer patients and their families is truly staggering.

Aflac has made it even more affordable for families to protect them from the financial destruction of a cancer diagnosis. The cost to add children to an individual or individual and spouse policy is FREE. Not only is it FREE, but the levels of cash benefit DOUBLE in most cases. Aflac understand that if a child is diagnosed with cancer both parents are going to want to be there and there will more than likely be a dual loss of income. Aflac again takes away the financial burden of a cancer diagnosis and allows moms and dads be where they need to be – with their children while they fight this horrible disease.

CRITICAL CARE AND RECOVERY

Critical Care and Recovery functions in the same type and level of cash payouts as our cancer policies, but it is for nine major medical conditions: Heart Attack, Stroke, End Stage Renal Failure, Major Human Organ Transplant, Major Third Degree Burns, Coma, Paralysis, Persistent Vegetative State and Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

If you have a family history of these diseases, this is a very good way to insure your financial safety should these conditions arise.

HOSPITAL PROTECTION

The hospital plan provides many cash benefits for the costs associated with a hospital confinement. From daily confinement benefits, major diagnostic exams, to surgical benefits the cash available can more than compensate you for out of pocket costs associated with a hospitalization.

INTENSIVE CARE PROTECTION

The ICU plan works even further by providing large cash benefit for the unexpected expenses that come from a stay in the hospital intensive care unit. Cash is available for daily confinement, step down units and progressive benefits.

VISION PROTECTION

Aflac’s vision policy provides a set cash payout for annual vision exams as well as assistance with purchasing glasses and/or contacts. Our policy also has a benefit for Lasik eye surgery. Our policy is also developed to help with ocular diseases, such as glaucoma and macular degeneration, and partial to total ocular loss.

DENTAL PROTECTION

Aflac has recently upgraded our dental policies to four different levels. The levels start from the supplemental policy (Essentials Level) to intermediate levels (Level 1 and Level 2) and to a complete stand alone dental protection (Level 3). All Aflac dental policies have an annual building maximum payout benefit for $100 a year for the first five years the policy is in force for a total of a $500 increase.
